Dear Rotarians
As we are a quarter into the Rotary Year, a number of our programmes are making good progress.
November is Interact Month and we have successfully completed the virtual interact exchange – which a very good program that involves secondary school students from our District and District 3220 (Sri Lanka). We had 3 meetings organized by 3 different interact schools from each district. At each meeting Interactors from both students would present a topic. The topics are so interesting that we attract over 300 students as audience for each session! Thank you, Interact Chairs from both districts for such a wonderful programme.
Also for the youth is our newly launched Outstanding Student Ambassador program. The program has attracted 100 teams to submit applications. We are planning for a press release in mid December.
Preserve Planet Earth being one of the key focus area this year, we have had a number of activities this year. This month, I attended the PPE forum on carbon reduction which shared much information on global climate change and Hong Kong policies for environmental protection. I also visited the Mangrove Plantation in Sha Tau Kok. Not only did we learn about the different species at the mangrove, we also contributed by picking up rubbish from the shoreline.
Our actions didn’t stop with the above, our District also held a Peace School Sharing at Ocean Park with sharing by three peace school principals. The Futures of Education Hong Kong & Greater Bay Area Forum 2022 was held at the Palace Museum. In addition, we kicked off the CPR/AED training program this month with sessions to be held in 2023. We also had a well organized seminar on mental health to raise the awareness on this issue.
And of course I continue the DG Visit. DG Visits to Area 9 and Area 10 (Rotary Clubs in Mongolia) have been completed over two Sunday mornings. And DG Visit to Area 1 (Rotary Clubs in Macao) have been completed in three evenings.
What a month of meaningful activities! Rotarians, let’s continue with our good service to our community!
