Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention is one of The Rotary Foundation’s seven areas of focus.
As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. By carrying out service projects and supporting peace fellowships and scholarships, our members take action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.
Since the launch of the Rotary Peace Centres program in 2002-03, more than 1,600 Rotary Peace Fellows are advancing the cause of peace in more than 140 countries today. And soon, we’ll also be recruiting fellows for a new peace centre in the Middle East and North Africa region as we begin working this year with a recently selected partner university.
Being passionate to creates environments where peace can happen,
