April has been a month of activities:

Peace camp was carried out on April 1st and 2nd at the Li Po Chun United College. The camp was organized by the students of Li Po Chun United College and the participants are mostly secondary students of our Interact schools.

RYLA was completed from April 13th to 16th at Wu Kai Sha Youth camp with the opening and closing ceremonies held at the XiQu Center of the West Kowloon District. I have officiated the opening and visited the camp. At the closing, I have attended the presentation by all teams and facilitated the RYLArian of the Year selection by the panellists.

PPE committee has solicited the display of a winning video of the PPE competition at the Times Square outdoor LED wall from April 17th for 1 week. We also have many posters at the lightbox at MTR platform until end of May. Thanks to MTR for offering these free ads to Rotary. These activities coincide with the World Earth Day in April.

A Major Donor appreciation cum Paul Harris Birthday celebration dinner was held on April 19th at Regala Sky City Hotel. Thanks to the hotel for sponsoring the banquet and many Rotarians donating precious gifts for auction. We have a fun night with some of our District Leaders serving the tables to earn tips for foundation. Many good singers in our District have also helped to raise fund for foundation. Because of this special event, many donors topped up their contribution prior to the event to become major donors. At the event, we have raised over USD112,000 for The Rotary Foundation through auctions and voluntary contribution to appreciate our service.

We have also finally organized our Mongolia DG visit. Mongolia is growing rapidly, giving huge opportunities for Rotary to serve in different aspects. A team of 12 delegates from Hong Kong visited Mongolia for 4 days arriving afternoon of Friday April 21. We received the warmest welcome upon arrival at Ulaanbaatar with a Russian dinner where I had the opportunity to get to know each and every President in Areas 9 and 10. Over the next few days, we visited First Central Hospital where 2 projects were presented respectively by Rotary Clubs of Khuree and Ulaanbaatar; visited the site for “Ger for Life” which helped 10 families stand on their feet again; joined the regular lunch meeting of Rotary Club of Khuree; met PAGs, Presidents of Rotaract Club and had the first “All Interact Club Meeting”. We had a very fruitful 4 days where we could fully experience the energy of Mongolia and our Rotarians in Mongolia.

As the world is recovering from the pandemic and travel resumes, let’s imagine a better world – Let’s Imagine Rotary!
