With “Disease Prevention and Treatment” as one of The Rotary Foundation’s seven areas of focus
Disease results in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. Rotarians lead efforts both large and small. We set up temporary clinics, blood donation centres, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access. We design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together. We also combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio.
As Prevention is also important, we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care.
In 2020 – 21, almost 50% of 2,066 Grants have been applied for Diseases Prevention and Treatment. In terms of amount, a total of USD74.8M has been designated to this Area of Focus.
Being enthusiastic on participating in projects under this Area of Focus, 58 Global Grant projects have been carried out by D3450 Clubs since 2015 and we have played the role of Host Partner on 28 of them. With only limited space to showcase their excellent work, the following pages summarize 5 Global Grant projects with District 3450 Clubs as Host Partners and are selected according to different attributes including the project completion date and size etc.
With a short video “Rotary fights disease” showing how we are participating in Diseases Prevention and Treatment in the world also attached, it’s time for your Club to apply for the Global Grant and use your expertise to lend a hand in this Area of Focus.
