April is Maternal & Child Health
Every day, mothers bravely put their lives on the line to give birth, and tragically, millions of children succumb to preventable and treatable causes each year. A staggering seven million children under the age of five die annually due to malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation. To help combat this crisis, Rotary is committed to providing babies with immunizations and antibiotics, improving access to essential medical services, and supporting trained health care providers for both mothers and their children. Moreover, Rotary’s projects prioritize sustainability by empowering the local community to take ownership of health care training programs.
By collaborating together, we can make a meaningful contribution to Maternal and Child Health initiatives both in our own communities and around the world. By pooling our resources and efforts, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of women and children everywhere.
HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN
Rotary is committed to helping improve the health and well-being of women and children around the world. Through its initiatives, Rotary provides educational opportunities, immunization services, birth kits, and mobile health clinics to help women understand the importance of preventing mother-to-infant HIV transmission, promote breast-feeding practices, and protect themselves and their children from illness.

Past President Vishal’s Thoughts on Giving to the Rotary Foundation
I believe the act of giving should be a continuous life habit and not a one-off act. I consider becoming a Major Donor as only a small milestone in my Rotary life and as I become more successful in my business and personal life, I wish to have an even bigger impact on Rotary and in serving our community.
From a young age, I have watched my father, who is also a Past President of the Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden Mile, evolve into becoming a more selfless and giving person. It was his love for Rotary and his active participation in the service avenues that it presented to him that enabled his personal transformation and is what inspired me to follow in his footsteps.
I never hesitate to contribute within my capacity as it adds both meaning and purpose to my life. I believe I have been blessed by the universe and having the opportunity to serve is a privilege that I will not let waste. Having now been in Rotary for 6 years, I got the opportunity to serve as Club President last year and although it was very time-consuming, it ignited my passion for the organization. I highly recommend fellow Rotarians to take the role of Club President when the opportunity presents itself as it helps one change their perspective about life and understand the true essence of Rotary.
The Rotary Foundation has undertaken countless projects that have positively impacted millions of lives around the world. Being a father of 2 young children, their contributions to children’s healthcare and education dearly touch my heart, and I hope to be able to contribute more to these causes in the future.
Thank you so much President Adrian for your heart to serve.
You are truly living Service Above Self!
Thank you for supporting Rotary Foundation!
