(2) to increase the number of screened newborns for Congenital Hypothyroidism (CH) and pregnant women for the risk of Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 and 13. (3) to develop a National Framework in Mongolia

Project Description:

2019-2020, during the 1 year of the project’s implementation, 8000 neonates were screened by 1 disease which is Congenital Hypothyroidism and were detected 5 neonates for early diagnosed and treated in 6 city’s maternal hospitals and 3 Aimag’s hospitals. (1:1600)

Out of 800 pregnant women who underwent prenatal screening by Down’, Edward’ and Patau’ Syndrome, 13 cases were identified and referred for further and specialist examination.

As part of expanding the scope of prenatal and neonatal screening, 320 doctors and medical specialists were trained and certified.

We successfully enrolled Newborn screening quality assurance program of Centers for disease control and preventation (NSQAP of CDC) in 2017-2020.
