Objectives:
• The primary objective is to support mother and child health.
• Provide training which will completely embed Childbirth Education within the Mongolian Education system .
• The project will follow up from Phase I (#79324) training that trained over 100 health care providers at Hospital number 1 plus two other large regional hospitals to provide classes to the women and families within their communities.
• Provision of grass roots consultation and evaluation to the current health care professionals.
• Provide Midwifery and Childbirth Education workshops at two regional centers combined with University master training.
• Provide a higher skill level of training to Midwives, Doctors and Obstetricians at Hospital Number One in Ulaanbaatar, particularly focusing around the identified clinical skills deficit while incorporating best practice in skin-to skin care of the newborn and highlighting risks around premature delivery, birth and neonatal care.

Project Description:
In partnership with the Health Science University which provides training for Nurses and Midwives in Ulaanbaatar, this project has been adopted as part of the curriculum that these students are taught.
This project is a participatory as well as highly sustainable project with established health care professionals already trained in Ulaanbaatar and an educational training manual written, translated and printed. Once printed the training manual will be adopted by Government as the standard for University and Government training of health care professionals in Mongolia.
