Project Description:
This Global Grant covered 2 medical and teaching missions to 2 locations in Guizhou Province. Our Cooperating Organization, Alliance for Smiles, had worked closely with China Population Welfare Foundation on “Happy Smile” program since 2002 and they were very instrumental in organizing all the logistics at the two hospitals as well as finding the needy families/patients. 124 patients were screened and 109 were successfully operated on. In addition, 264 dental procedures were performed on 73 patients. The missions were very successful, and the local surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses etc. were enthusiastic learners. Good press coverage from local TV and newspapers.
